The 2025 hurricane season is heating up. Tropical Storm Erin, currently churning more than 1,200 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands, is on track to strengthen into a hurricane as it approaches Puerto Rico later this week.
While most forecasts predict Erin will curve north into the western Atlantic, avoiding U.S. landfall, some models show a more southern path that could threaten the East Coast or even eastern Canada. By the weekend, warmer waters could push Erin into Category 3 strength, with its path becoming clearer by Monday.
Above-Normal Hurricane Season Ahead
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has reaffirmed its above-normal hurricane outlook for the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, which ends November 30.
Here’s what forecasters expect:
13–18 named storms (winds 39+ mph)
5–9 hurricanes (winds 74+ mph)
2–5 major hurricanes (winds 111+ mph)
More than 33 million U.S. homes, valued at $11.7 trillion, are at moderate or greater risk of hurricane-force wind damage. Florida, Texas, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts top the list. And as NOAA warns, the damage from storms doesn’t stop at the coastline. Last year’s hurricanes Helene and Debby brought devastating inland flooding far from landfall, especially in the Appalachia region.
Why Flood Protection Can’t Wait
Hurricanes aren’t just a wind threat. They bring storm surge, flash flooding from rivers, and days of dangerous rainfall. Once a storm is on the radar, insurance companies often halt issuing or increasing coverage, making last-minute protection nearly impossible.
That’s why Tiger Dams® are a critical line of defense. Unlike traditional sandbags, Tiger Dams are rapidly deployable, reusable, and engineered to divert or contain floodwaters before they reach your home or business.
Whether protecting a single doorway with our Home Door Flood Protection Kit or surrounding an entire property with our commercial flood diversion systems, Tiger Dams give you the ability to act quickly, often in just hours before the worst of the storm arrives.
Start Preparing Before the Storm
When a hurricane is on the horizon, every hour counts. By the time you know a storm is heading your way, it’s often too late to get protection.
Tiger Dams are trusted by municipalities, businesses, and homeowners nationwide to stop floodwater in its tracks. With an above-normal hurricane season predicted, now is the time to protect what matters most.
