St. Cloud is on tap to get new and improved emergency equipment for hurricanes and severe weather. During Thursday’s council meeting, state Sen. Kristen Arrington and state Rep. Paula Stark gave the city a $470,000 check. The funds will support two major projects that include a new water-filled dam system and a new fire boat.

When Hurricane Ian hit, floodwaters rushed across the Naples Airport. Now, they have a new line of defense: 3,000 feet of Tiger Dams.These bright orange tubes can be filled with up to 78,000 gallons of water to create a barrier against future flooding.

On March 29, a tiger dam training session was held on sməlqmíx-syilx territory at the Chopaka Bridge. Representatives from the Upper Similkameen Indian Band, Village of Keremeos and Keremeos Volunteer Fire Department, Hedley Fire Department, Town of Oliver and Thompson-Nicola Regional District all participated alongside RDOS and LSIB in a full day of training.

Collier County is now on board with a new defense system to stop flooding. On Tuesday, Collier County consented to an agreement for tiger dams. Tiger dams are reusable flood water, inflated flood protection, using water to fight water.

A massive 500-foot-long, 5-foot-tall “Tiger Dam” has also been procured and installed over the boat ramp to further secure the area from additional water.

Deegan said there was "good feedback" on the Tiger Dams that were put in place on the beaches to deter storm surges and flooding.
